Alberta Investment Management Corp, or AIMCo, disclosed a $219 million stake in MicroStrategy, according to BitcoinTreasuries. The $142 billion Canadian investment manager purchased 1.38 million shares of the company, which has become a proxy for Bitcoin exposure through its treasury strategy.
The acquisition marks AIMCo’s first allocation toward Bitcoin-related treasury assets, the report said, adding to evidence of institutional interest in listed companies tied to the cryptocurrency market.
