Kuwait Records First Zero Crude-Export Month Since 1991

businessenergy-marketsworldmiddle-eastpoliticsmaritime 4 posts · 4 accounts

Kuwait exported no crude oil in April 2026, its first month of zero crude exports since 1991, after exports were halted by the Strait of Hormuz blockade. Production continued, but barrels were stored or refined instead of being shipped abroad.

Traffic through the strait has come to a virtual standstill. The Kin A, a very large crude carrier carrying Iraqi crude, appeared to have made an outbound crossing several days ago and has since left its anchorage at Duqm heading toward the Suez Canal, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.
