OpenAI Raises 2026 Revenue Outlook as GPT-5.5 Boosts API Growth
A summary of OpenAI's financial projections indicated the company met its aggressive first-quarter plan and raised revenue expectations for the rest of 2026 as momentum carried into the second quarter. One week after the launch of GPT-5.5, API revenue was said to be growing at more than twice the pace of the previous best period, while Codex revenue doubled in less than seven days.
OpenAI was also described as ahead of schedule on infrastructure tied to Stargate. The company said it has already surpassed a target announced in late 2025 to secure 10 gigawatts of AI infrastructure in the US by 2029, including more than 3 gigawatts added in the last 90 days.
