Kashkari Says Fed May Raise Rates as Iran War Fuels Inflation
Kashkari said in remarks to CBS that policymakers need to remain open-minded about the future of interest-rate policy and that, in some scenarios, the Federal Reserve may have to raise rates. He said the Iran war is already having a big impact on inflation and warned that the longer the war goes on, the greater the inflation pressure.
Kashkari said supply chains would take months to recover even if the war were fully over now, and added that he is very concerned by the downside risks from the conflict.
