MetronomeDAO Synthetic USD Slips 11% Below Dollar Peg on Ethereum, Base and Optimism

MetronomeDAO’s Synth USD (msUSD) traded roughly 11% below its dollar peg across Ethereum, Base and Optimism, settling at $0.9756, a drop of 241 bps from its $1 target. The latest price dislocation, first flagged by data provider Blockaid on July 30, marks the 21st depeg event for the stablecoin and represents its longest recorded stretch to date.

Metronome DAO explained the shortfall stemmed from insufficient collateral in msETH and msUSD triggered by a lagging Chainlink price feed during asset swaps. The protocol identified a deficit of approximately 6,367 msETH and 4.57 million msUSD and stated it would cover the gap using treasury reserves, higher swap fees and contract upgrades. Previous price failures for the asset averaged just one hour.
