Anthropic added "noindex" and "nofollow" tags to its shared Claude conversation pages, preventing web search crawlers from indexing public links created by users.

The technical update follows reports that shared chats containing private messages, corporate data and medical records were surfacing in search engine results. An Anthropic spokesperson previously stated the sharing feature functions as intended, noting that posting links makes the conversations publicly accessible to the open web.
