OpenAI, Anthropic Push to Extend 30-Day U.S. AI Model Review to Rivals
OpenAI and Anthropic are lobbying the Trump administration to expand a voluntary framework requiring developers to submit advanced artificial intelligence models for government review at least 30 days before public release.
The companies are seeking to ensure that rival products from Meta and SpaceX AI face the same evaluation rules ahead of an Aug. 1 White House deadline to define covered systems. The lobbying push coincides with record federal lobbying spending by AI developers, with OpenAI and Anthropic recording $2.22 million and $3.53 million in the first half of the year.
