Microsoft Launches MAI-Cyber-1-Flash Security Model, Scores 96% on Cyber Benchmark at Half Cost

Microsoft has launched MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, its first dedicated cybersecurity artificial intelligence model, which scored 96% on the CyberGym vulnerability benchmark. Combined with the company’s MDASH multi-agent security harness, the model delivers world-class performance at 50% of the cost of leading security AI models.

Built to handle 90% of routine vulnerability detection and patching tasks, the model allows a centralized security harness to reserve more expensive AI models for the remaining 10% of complex incidents, Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman said. The launch, bundled under a broader offering called Project Perception, addresses rising expenses in continuous cyber defense as token usage becomes the primary bottleneck for security teams.

Big news! Our new MAI-Cyber-1-Flash model combined with MDASH, our multi agent security harness, delivers 96% on the CyberGym benchmark, 12pts above Mythos, at HALF the cost. Proud of the team. More details in THREAD:

Security is an always-on mission, and given the enormous volume of inbound attacks, token cost is now the real constraint for defenders. We need continuous, real-time, cost-efficient agents to protect us.

That’s the motivation of MAI-Cyber-1-Flash in MDASH. It's been designed to handle up to 90% of vulnerability detection and patching tasks in CyberGym, enabling the agentic harness to use larger / more costly models (in this case GPT-5.4) fo
