Philip Morris has opened a $1.2 billion manufacturing facility in Aurora, Colorado, dedicated to expanding production of its Zyn nicotine pouches. The new plant doubles the company's previous capital commitment of $600 million and marks its first greenfield manufacturing complex in the United States.

The 780,000-square-foot site began commercial production this month and is projected to create approximately 500 jobs. Stacey Kennedy, chief executive of Philip Morris U.S., said the investment responds to demand for the smoke-free pouch that outpaced company forecasts. The expansion aims to bolster the maker's domestic supply chain and global distribution capacity.
