Crypto Security Losses Hit $1 Billion in H1 2026 as Blockaid Records 212 Incidents
Crypto security losses exceeded $1 billion in the first half of 2026 across 212 recorded incidents, marking the highest total for any six-month period, on-chain security platform Blockaid reported.
Ethereum-linked projects suffered approximately $332 million in losses primarily due to code vulnerabilities, while Solana-related projects lost around $326 million, with more than 98% stemming from compromised key and signing infrastructure at Drift Protocol and Step Finance. The KelpDAO exploit accounted for the single largest loss of $292 million. Blockaid attributed the widespread breaches to hacking groups linked to North Korea.
