Perplexity Releases Numbat to Monitor and Block AI Agent Actions on Desktop and Gateway Platforms
Perplexity has open-sourced Numbat, a security layer designed to monitor artificial intelligence agent activity and block predefined actions across agent harnesses. The tool operates on desktop, command-line, integrated development environment and gateway agents, providing security teams with live monitoring and pre-action blocking capabilities.
Numbat is available as a single Go binary for macOS, Linux and Windows under the Apache 2.0 license. Perplexity noted that the system includes local detection and forensic reconstruction features, routing audit events to its Computer system for continuous telemetry analysis and automated on-device detection updates.
