Qatar Sends First LNG Shipment Through Hormuz in Nearly Three Weeks
Qatar sent its first liquefied natural gas shipment through the Strait of Hormuz in nearly three weeks, with a QatarEnergy-controlled tanker exiting the waterway after one of Qatar's tankers was attacked there more than three weeks ago. QatarEnergy also bought 33 US LNG cargoes to offset the Hormuz disruption, according to Reuters.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards said the strait would remain closed as long as the US continued making threats and intervening in maritime movements. IRGC-affiliated Fars said the Qatari carrier crossed with Iran's permission on an Iran-designated route, while the Guards said two oil tankers trying to use a southern route turned back after a fire on one vessel, without providing evidence.
