China Warns Retaliation Over U.S. Robot Import Ban as Unitree Keeps Six Models on U.S. Market
China warns it will retaliate if the U.S. maintains the Federal Communications Commission's ban on new foreign-made robots, while Chinese manufacturer Unitree confirmed that six already certified models will maintain U.S. sales pending conditional approvals for future hardware.
The FCC added humanoid and quadruped robots to its restricted list on Tuesday, barring new models from all foreign producers and covering device imports alongside connected power inverters. The commission's new security determination blocks future imports unless manufacturers win exemptions or demonstrate that the hardware poses no unacceptable national security threat.
