A bipartisan group of U.S. senators warned Apple not to purchase memory chips from Chinese semiconductor suppliers CXMT and YMTC, citing a recently updated Pentagon blacklist of firms tied to Beijing’s military.

The letter to CEO Tim Cook is led by Sen. Jim Banks, R-Indiana, and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, and includes co-signers Andy Kim, Jeanne Shaheen, Mike Crapo and Pete Ricketts. The lawmakers warned the iPhone maker against relying on a U.S. adversary for crucial components.
