Senate Begins Vote on Russia, Iran Sanctions Bill Imposing Tariffs on Top Five Energy Buyers
The U.S. Senate began a procedural vote Tuesday on a bipartisan Russia and Iran sanctions bill giving the president tariff power over the top five buyers of Russian crude and natural gas.
The legislation, championed by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, includes a provision extending sanctions on Tehran that expire later this year. President Donald Trump has backed the measure, which also targets countries aiding sanctions evasion.
