Brent Crude Tops $90 After Iran Missile Strike on U.S. Base Pushes Prices Up Nearly 7%
Oil prices rose nearly 7% to top $90 a barrel after Iran’s IRGC fired missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan and President Donald Trump vowed to strike back. Brent crude rallied 5.8% to $86.82, while U.S. WTI crude jumped 6.4% to $84.30.
Oil had been dropping into the high $70s on de-escalation hopes just days ago, but the market is once again pricing in disruption risk to Gulf and Strait of Hormuz flows.
