Meta Raises 2026 Capital Spending to $130 Billion, Misses Profit, Shares Drop 10%

businesscompany-earningsaiai-infrastructureai-compute-chipsstocks 63 posts · 35 accounts

Meta posted second-quarter revenue of $60.8 billion, beating estimates, but reported an earnings per share of $6.18 against a $7.22 consensus estimate. The company narrowed and raised the lower end of its full-year capital expenditure guidance to $130 billion–$145 billion, citing accelerated infrastructure spending for artificial intelligence model training.

Operating expenses surged 55% year-over-year to $42 billion, compressing profit margins to 31% and capping free cash flow at $784 million. Shares fell more than 10% in after-hours trading as investors weighed the profit miss and heightened infrastructure outlays. Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg noted that outside firms are bidding at significant premiums for Meta's idle compute capacity, but the company plans to retain the hardware to power internal AI products and enterprise services.
