Three VLCCs Exit Hormuz With 6 Million Barrels as Average Flow Falls to 3 Million BPD
Three very large crude carriers hauling about 6 million barrels of crude exited the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours, according to ship tracking data. The vessels began sending automated position signals as they entered the Gulf of Oman on Thursday morning, and one separate estimate put implied Hormuz flow at 1.8 million barrels on Wednesday, taking the seven-day average to 3 million bpd.
Other tracking snapshots showed the Omani corridor was quiet, with only two vessels visible along the Iranian corridor. One mapping estimate put combined alternative routes out of the Gulf at 7 million to 8 million bpd, including Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, the UAE's Fujairah route, Oman terminals and Iraq-Turkey.
