U.S. Fires Missiles at LPG Tanker Carrying 28 Indian Crew in Iranian Waters
The U.S. military fired two missiles at a Mozambique-flagged LPG tanker carrying 28 Indian crew members in Iranian territorial waters, killing two crew members and damaging the vessel's engine room, Iranian media reported. The Indian embassy in Tehran confirmed the attack on the vessel DISHA and stated all crew members are safe following the incident on Friday.
State-run Iranian broadcasters said the strike was a mistake and the tanker was mistakenly believed to be carrying Iranian gas. A U.K. maritime monitor later logged an incident involving a tanker and military forces in the Gulf of Oman. The U.S. military has not commented on the specific vessel or the casualty reports.
