Iran Flies 10 to 21 IRGC Personnel and Missile Gear to Yemen's Houthis, Sources Say
Iran flew Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders, military advisers and missile- and drone-related equipment into Yemen on July 13, according to four sources familiar with the matter. Two Iranian sources said 10 to 21 IRGC personnel, including senior commanders, were on a Mahan Air flight from Tehran.
The transfer suggests Tehran is seeking to strengthen its Houthi allies' ability to threaten Red Sea shipping, according to the sources. The plane was originally bound for Sanaa but diverted to Hodeidah after the airport came under attack, and one source said the commanders traveled to support Houthi operations, provide training on new missile systems and that the aircraft also carried gold to fund Houthi activities.
