Robinhood Confirms CEO X Account Compromised in Fake Robinhood Chain Meme Coin Scam Generating $1.2 Million
Robinhood confirmed Thursday that CEO Vlad Tenev’s X account was compromised and used to promote a fake memecoin for its blockchain platform, Robinhood Chain. The promoted token, dubbed Vladhood ($VLAD), generated roughly $1.2M to $1.3M in trading proceeds before a contract address flag.
The company’s block explorer marked the address as a scam to warn users. The fraudulent post was removed during a brief window before the company verified the breach.
