Microsoft and Mistral AI signed a multibillion-dollar agreement to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure in Europe, building thousands of Nvidia Vera Rubin graphics processing units for regional data centers. The deal brings Mistral Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models to Microsoft’s Azure, Foundry and Copilot Studio platforms.

The arrangement allows healthcare, manufacturing and critical infrastructure firms to operate identical AI models across cloud-connected and fully offline environments without rebuilding their systems. Microsoft vice chair Brad Smith said the infrastructure project preserves European data sovereignty while providing regulated enterprises access to advanced artificial intelligence tools.
