Microsoft Tests 2.8-Trillion-Parameter Kimi K3 Model for Copilot on Azure
Microsoft is testing Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion parameter open-weight model, for Microsoft Copilot features currently powered by OpenAI and Anthropic, according to The Information. The software maker is integrating the system into Azure, making the open-weights version available through its cloud platform for broader enterprise deployment.
The model recently led a software development benchmark on Arena, prompting developer Moonshot to halt new subscriptions as GPU demand strained capacity. The inclusion of a Chinese-developed system in Microsoft’s flagship AI workflow marks a significant shift in the company’s model sourcing, though deployment timelines for customers were not disclosed.
