The Verus Coin Ethereum bridge was exploited, with an attacker using the bridge’s import path to trigger unbacked Ethereum-side payouts. The attack drained approximately $7.54M in ETH and stablecoins from the bridge’s reserves.

The incident follows a similar exploit in May that resulted in the theft of 5,402.4 ETH, with 4,052.4 ETH returned following a bounty payout. The funds were transferred back into the bridge on July 8, and the platform was targeted again on July 22.
