Strategy, BlackRock, Coinbase Launch Bitcoin Security Consortium, Pledge $15 Million for Post-Quantum Security Research
Strategy, BlackRock, Coinbase and nine other financial institutions and crypto firms launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium, pledging $15 million over three years to fund developers and researchers working on the Bitcoin network.
The consortium’s initial focus will be post-quantum cryptography research to address long-term quantum computing threats, according to the group's announcement. Members emphasized that the initiative will not direct Bitcoin's development but will instead provide financial support to the existing open-source developer and research community.
