EU Adds 32 Banks, Freezes Russian Oil Price Cap in 21st Sanctions Package
The European Union finalized its 21st package of sanctions against Russia, establishing a 12-month freeze on the oil price cap and securing a one-year exemption with automatic renewal for liquefied natural gas exports to third countries.
The deal resolves a multi-week stalemate after Greece lifted its veto in exchange for the LNG shipment provision. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the blockade will also add 32 Russian banks to the transaction ban list, with formal approval expected later today.
