Tesla Raises Giga Berlin Battery Capacity to 18 GWh on $1.4 Billion Investment

businessautomobile 2 posts · 2 accounts

Tesla’s Giga Berlin factory will increase battery cell manufacturing capacity to 18 GWh per year following a fresh capital allocation of nearly $1.4 billion USD. The updated production target, raised from a prior 8 GWh yearly goal, is detailed in the facility’s fiscal 2025 management report filed late June.

The battery expansion accompanies a vehicle production ramp scheduled to reach 7,500 units weekly starting in October, a 20% jump on top of a previous increase announced earlier this year. The plant will create 3,500 new positions and continue supplying vehicles to more than 30 markets, with additional regional rollouts planned. The announcement follows the factory’s record second-quarter vehicle sales and energy deployment numbers for 2026.
