Trump Dismisses Need for Strait of Hormuz, Citing U.S. and Venezuela Output
President Donald Trump said the U.S. does not need the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that increased production from the U.S. and Venezuela could replace disrupted supplies moving through the waterway.
His comment came after Iranian officials said the strait would not return to pre-war conditions. Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that if Iran could not sell oil, no one would sell oil, and the IRGC Navy warned vessels against using alternative routes, calling them unsafe and dangerous.
