Houthis Claim Aramco Strikes in Jizan and Yanbu; Greek Battery Intercepts 2 Missiles

politicswarbusinessenergy-marketsoilmaritime 465 posts · 88 accounts

Two ballistic missiles launched from Yemen toward oil refineries in Yanbu were intercepted by a Greek-operated air defense system in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Greek security sources said, as the Houthis claimed separate operations against Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu and Jizan. There was no immediate Saudi confirmation of the Houthi claim, but multiple pillars of smoke were seen over Saudi Aramco's refinery in Jizan earlier in the day in what would be the first Houthi attack on a Saudi refinery complex in four years.

Yemen's government air force later struck Houthi missile and drone launch sites and arms depots in Marib and al-Jawf, in some of its first offensive operations since fighting resumed, two Yemeni military officials said. No damage has been confirmed in Yanbu, one of Saudi Arabia's main alternatives to exporting oil through the Strait of Hormuz, while a Hong Kong-flagged supertanker bound for the port U-turned before Bab el-Mandeb, according to ship-tracking data.
