Chinese Supertankers Exit Red Sea With 4 Million Barrels of Saudi Oil Amid Houthi Blockade
Two Chinese supertankers carrying a combined 4 million barrels of Saudi oil exited the Red Sea via the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on Thursday, according to shipping data, amid a Houthi blockade on Saudi oil shipments and attacks on other Saudi vessels.
LSEG data showed the Xin Long Yang resumed its southbound voyage late on Wednesday after making a U-turn and pausing in the Red Sea, while the Cosnew Lake followed and both later cleared the strait. The tankers loaded at Yanbu, the western terminus of Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline, which allows exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, and were bound for Qinzhou and Huizhou in southern China.
