Aramco Offers Extra Crude Cargoes From Egypt as 2 Tankers Carry 4 Million Barrels Through Bab el-Mandeb
Aramco offered additional crude cargoes for loading from Egypt’s Mediterranean port of Sidi Kerir, Reuters reported, citing five trading sources, as Houthi threats raised risks to shipping through the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait. MarineTraffic data showed two China-linked VLCCs carrying a combined 4 million barrels of Saudi crude crossed Bab el-Mandeb on Thursday, with one resuming its voyage after briefly reversing course earlier in the week.
Reuters said two sources described the Sidi Kerir barrels as spot cargoes in addition to long-term contract supplies, and Aramco already uses the port for some deliveries to Europe and North America. Brent crude hit $100 a barrel for the first time in two months amid supply disruptions in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Black Sea. Separately, three supertankers carrying about 6 million barrels of crude from Iraq, Qatar and the UAE exited the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours.
