Google Signs More Than $1 Billion Data Center Fiber Deal With Verizon
Google and Verizon have signed a data center agreement worth more than $1 billion to provide dark-fiber connectivity for the tech giant’s networks. The contract delivers dedicated network capacity that Google will operate with its own equipment to support its expanding cloud and AI infrastructure.
Verizon Chief Executive Officer Dan Schulman said additional agreements are expected by year-end, which could generate multiple billions in revenue over the next several years. The transaction extends the company’s recent capital allocations beyond compute hardware and power into dedicated telecommunications capacity.
