Google Launches Gemini 3.6 Flash, Cuts Task Time in Half and Lowers Prices
Google launched three new versions of its Gemini AI model family focused on speed and cost efficiency, led by Gemini 3.6 Flash which cuts average task completion time by more than 50% to 1.3 minutes. The updated model reduces output token usage by up to 65% on coding benchmarks and carries a new price of $1.50 per million input tokens and $7.50 per million output tokens, a drop from the previous generation’s $9.00 output fee.
The release also includes Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite for high-volume tasks like document processing and agentic search, and a specialized Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber model designed to identify and patch software vulnerabilities within Google’s CodeMender security agent. Flash Cyber will roll out to trusted partners and government agencies in a limited pilot program. Google simultaneously confirmed that pre-training for its next-generation Gemini 4 model has already begun.
