TSMC Adds $100 Billion to Arizona Chip Plant, Raising Total U.S. Investment to $265 Billion

TSMC is adding $100 billion to its investment in an Arizona semiconductor plant, bringing the company’s total U.S. spending to $265 billion. The expansion is designed to increase fabrication capacity for advanced chips used in artificial intelligence.

The move follows strong multi-year demand from U.S. technology customers, according to the company’s chief financial officer, who also noted that the firm is not ruling out bond sales to help fund the capital expenditures. Physical constraints at the Arizona site remain under review with U.S. government officials, while the company plans to continue developing its most advanced chip technology first in Taiwan.
