Iran Threatens to Halt Gulf Oil Exports, Target Regional Power Plants if US Strikes Bridges

worldiranbusinessenergy-marketsoilpoliticswar 248 posts · 76 accounts

Iran threatened to stop oil exports and target regional oil, gas and electricity infrastructure if the US strikes Iranian bridges or power plants. The threats followed President Donald Trump's statement that Washington would destroy one Iranian bridge or power plant for each attack on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command said it would not allow "even a single drop of oil" to be exported.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said any European country that allows the US to use its territory or military bases would be considered complicit. IRGC Aerospace Force commander Majid Mousavi said US allies and host countries would face power outages if Iranian infrastructure were hit, while IRGC-linked Fars listed power plants in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar and Riyadh as possible targets.
