Verizon Beats Second-Quarter Earnings Estimates and Raises Full-Year Guidance and $4.5 Billion Buyback
Verizon reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.30 and adjusted EBITDA of $13.7B, beating analyst estimates of $1.27 and $13.65B. Following the results, the company raised its full-year EPS guidance to a range of $4.99 to $5.04 and expanded its share buyback target to up to $4.5B for the second consecutive quarter.
Operating revenue missed forecasts, declining to $34.3B from a projected $35.17B, as a nearly 20 percent drop in equipment sales offset 2.8 percent growth in mobility and broadband services. Consolidated net income fell 22.9 percent to $3.9B, weighed down by $1.8B in pre-tax special items including a $746M loss on business dispositions. CEO Dan Schulman cited new service plans driving improved subscriber retention, while noting AI infrastructure revenue will begin contributing to financial results starting in 2027.
