Intel Beats Earnings Forecasts, Raises 2026 Capital Spending to $20 Billion on Data Center Chip Demand
Intel posted second-quarter revenue of $16.1 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.42, beating analyst estimates, and raised its 2026 capital expenditure outlook to more than $20 billion. The chipmaker will increase spending significantly in 2027 to fund data center manufacturing, citing a supply gap for server chips as agentic AI workloads drive a higher unit ratio of CPUs per AI accelerator rack.
The data center and artificial intelligence business generated $6.3 billion in revenue, a 59% year-over-year increase. Management stated the tooling investment for 2026 will rise 40%, primarily directed toward Intel 3 and 18A-P process nodes, with expansion funded through existing liquidity and customer advance payments.

@semianalysis_Intel actually breaks out the "mark to market losses on Escrowed Shares" to the U.S. Department of Commerce. The way to read that is that is the mark to market of Trump's investment in Intel. Last quarter it was just a measly billion dollar
@semianalysis_Foundry momentum is real, as 18A-P is entering risk production for customers. This is the critical inflection point to see if Intel's process is usable to the outside. Interesting is that Intel is announcing a 5 billion euro addition to In
