U.S. Diesel Prices Pass $5 a Gallon as Refinery Crack Spreads Edge Toward Record $70
U.S. diesel pump prices have climbed back above $5 a gallon, while gasoline is nearing $4, as tight inventories push the 3-2-1 crack spread toward a record $70 a barrel.
Domestic refiners are prioritizing jet fuel and diesel to replace global supplies hit by the Strait of Hormuz closure and attacks on Russian refineries. Finished motor gasoline stocks have fallen for 13 of the last 16 weeks, shedding 43 million barrels since late February at a pace three times faster than the 10-year average.
