Iranian Attack in Jordan Kills 2 U.S. Service Members, Leaves 1 Missing

politicswarworldiranmiddle-east 170 posts · 79 accounts

Two U.S. service members were killed in Jordan on July 17 while U.S. and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, and another service member remains missing, U.S. Central Command said. Four other U.S. service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged, while other personnel treated for minor injuries returned to duty.

CENTCOM did not identify the dead or specify the installation in its statement. Other reports described the strike as hitting an air base in Jordan, and CENTCOM said it would withhold additional information, including the identities of the dead, until 24 hours after next of kin are notified.
