Lawson Launches Japan’s First POS-Integrated Stablecoin Payment Trial at Tokyo Store in August
Lawson, Japan’s top-three convenience store chain, will trial the yen-denominated JPYC stablecoin in early August at its Takanawa Gateway City store in Tokyo. The rollout marks the country’s first stablecoin payment pilot integrated with a point-of-sale system.
The checkout mechanism is being developed in partnership with HashPort, allowing customers to settle purchases via mobile wallet barcodes. Lawson confirmed the trial will be confined to the specified Tokyo location.
