SpaceX Raises AI Satellite Power to 250kW to Support Nvidia GPU Rack
SpaceX increased the peak power specification for its AI Sat V1 satellite to 250kW, with an average power load of 160kW. The update lifts peak power by 67% and average power by 33%.
The revised capacity will allow the satellite to host an Nvidia Rubin NVL72 rack containing 72 Rubin GPUs, Elon Musk stated. He noted the power ceiling accounts for GPU inference drawing roughly two-thirds of peak power over a 24-hour period. The satellite, designated AI1, will feature interchangeable compute providers and represents the first iteration of the platform.
