Moonshot's Kimi K3 Tops Frontend Code Arena, First Chinese Model to Lead
Moonshot's Kimi K3 became the first Chinese model to top Frontend Code Arena and debuted at No. 3 on software-engineering benchmark DeepSWE, according to Arena and DataCurve. Artificial Analysis ranked the model third overall on its Intelligence Index at 57, behind Claude Fable 5 at 60 and GPT-5.6 Sol at 59 and ahead of Claude Opus 4.8 at 56.
Moonshot says Kimi K3 is a 2.8T-parameter model with a 1M-token context window, costs $3 per 1M input tokens and $15 per 1M output tokens, and plans to release the weights by July 27. The benchmark results also drew policy attention, with White House tech adviser David Sacks calling them concerning and arguing the US risked losing ground if it restricted new data centers or required federal pre-approval of frontier models.

@shanumathew93Reminder that Opus 4.8 came out at thee end of May. So frontier leadership went from 6+ months to 1-1.5 months. Unclear how much of this is because of wide distillation and how far internal models are at American labs but the direction is
