Gabon Revokes Intershipping Services Ship Registry Authority After UK and EU Sanctions on Russian Oil Flotilla

politicsmaritimebusinesslawenergy-marketsoil 2 posts · 2 accounts

Gabon revoked Dubai-based Intershipping Services’ authority to manage its ship registry, ending the firm’s final role overseeing an international flag registry. The decision follows UK and EU sanctions imposed on Intershipping for registering vessels involved in Russian oil trades, including tankers linked to state carrier Sovcomflot and shadow fleet operator Gatik Ship Management.

Gabon’s shadow fleet boom has largely evaporated following the decision. Comoros still faces widespread scrutiny over its registry, with more than half of vessels claiming a flag above 10,000 dwt currently subject to sanctions.
