TSMC Raises Prices On Mature Chips In Single-Digit Increase, Crowding Out STMicroelectronics

TSMC will raise manufacturing prices for mature-process semiconductor chips by a single-digit percentage in the fourth quarter, with new pricing taking effect in January, according to media reports citing unnamed chip design houses.

The pricing adjustment coincides with a shift in production capacity from advanced artificial intelligence processors toward older chips used in power management and microcontrollers. STMicroelectronics is struggling to secure wafer allocations for microcontroller production, prompting a portion of orders to redirect to Chinese foundries.
