U.S. and Brent Oil Futures Jump 4.5% on Renewed Iran Strikes, Extending 15-Day Rally Above 20%

businessenergy-marketsoilpoliticswarmaritime 124 posts · 54 accounts

U.S. WTI August crude futures settled at $82.49 a barrel, gaining $3.54 or 4.48%, while Brent crude settled at $88.10 a barrel, rising $3.87 or 4.59%. The settlement pushed U.S. crude to its highest daily close since June 15.

The price gains followed renewed U.S. airstrikes on Iranian targets and the reimposition of a naval blockade on Iranian port shipments. The hostilities extended a supply-driven rally that has lifted prices more than 20% in 15 days, leaving Brent near the $90 mark as markets price in further disruption to Persian Gulf flows.
