Tencent Leads Deal to Buy Meta’s $2 Billion Stake in Manus After Beijing Ban
Tencent is leading negotiations to buy Meta’s stake in Manus, the agentic artificial-intelligence startup, as investors rush to exit the $2 billion acquisition. Tencent will become the company’s largest shareholder while retaining a minority position in the deal, according to the Financial Times.
The transaction unwinds a previously completed merger that Beijing ordered reversed. Manus will continue to operate independently out of Singapore and will not be integrated into Tencent’s business, people familiar with the matter said.
