U.S. Hits Dozens of Iranian Targets as Iran Fires on Shipping in Hormuz
U.S. Central Command said forces began launching more strikes against Iran at 5 p.m. ET and later completed a wave that hit dozens of targets at multiple locations, including air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities and small boats. CENTCOM said the strikes used fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones, while a spokesman said U.S. aircraft shot down an Iranian cruise missile and a one-way attack drone as Iran's Revolutionary Guard forces fired at commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran later said it struck U.S. military bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. Bahrain's interior ministry said air raid sirens were activated, and Jordan's military said it intercepted four missiles from Iran that entered its airspace, with no injuries or material damage. Iranian reports also said U.S. strikes hit five cities in Khuzestan, and a provincial official said one person was killed and four were injured after a projectile hit a water pumping station in Mahshahr.
