Samsung Profits Surge 19 Fold to $57.6 Billion on AI Memory Demand
Samsung Electronics reported preliminary second-quarter operating profit of 89.4 trillion won, or approximately $57.6 billion, beating analyst estimates by roughly 6%. The company filed the figures as a fair disclosure and preliminary earnings statement late Sunday evening South Korean time, noting the result reflects a 19-fold increase compared to the same period last year. Samsung credited the surge primarily to soaring demand for memory chips used to power artificial intelligence data centers.
Revenue came in at 171 trillion won, slightly below the consensus estimate of 173 trillion won. The operating profit dwarfs the chipmaker's quarterly performance throughout 2025, marking a sharp recovery after struggling results earlier last year and a strong first quarter in 2026. Samsung Electronics, the world's largest memory chip maker, is expected to release full consolidated financial statements later this month.
