Robinhood Launches Ethereum Layer 2 Mainnet and Tokenized Stock Tokens
Robinhood launched the public mainnet for Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain built on the Arbitrum network, alongside Stock Tokens that enable 24-hour trading of U.S. equities for eligible users in more than 120 countries. The rollout places the trading platform deeper into the decentralized finance ecosystem, integrating decentralized exchange Uniswap as the primary liquidity provider for swaps and adopting Chainlink as its official cross-chain data oracle.
Shares of Robinhood rose 8.1% following the announcement. The blockchain launch coincides with a broader wave of product expansions, including a decentralized lending product powered by Ethena, zero-fee crypto trading in Canada, and the availability of perpetual futures for commodities and foreign exchange across the European Union.
