Oxmiq Raises $35 Million to Build AI Chip Architecture
AI chip startup Oxmiq raised $35 million to develop a new chip architecture and software designed to lower the cost of artificial intelligence applications, according to a company announcement on Wednesday. Led by Samsung Catalyst Fund and Fudomo, the funding round brings Oxmiq’s total capital raised to $60 million. MediaTek and Pegatron Venture Capital also participated in the investment.
The cash will support Oxmiq’s plan to merge central processing unit, graphics processor, and tensor engine functions into a single licensable intellectual property block, chief executive Raja Koduri said. Koduri, a former Intel chief architect and ex-AMD executive, told reporters the company aims to streamline how designers integrate hardware components for AI workloads. The financing underscores sustained venture capital interest in semiconductor startups focused on optimizing AI infrastructure costs.
